Rupee gains 12 paise against US dollar

The Indian rupee appreciated by 12 paise to 44.85 against the US dollar at the Interbank Forex Exchange on Friday. The local currency hovered in a range between 44.85 and 45.00 per dollar in morning deals. The rupee had closed at 44.97 per dollar on Thursday.
