BSE Sensex up by 96 points

Rupee depreciates by 4 paise

The rupee depreciated by 4 paise to 46.53 against dollar in morning trade. The Indian currency closed at 46.49/50 per dollar yesterday. Forex dealers said weak opening on the stock markets and dollar's gain against Asian currencies put pressure on the rupee sentiment.

Sensex opens in red

The Bombay stocks exchange benchmark Sensex opened in red today as global cues continue to be depressing. The BSE Sensex was trading at 17,609 down by over 121 points when reports last came in. Similarly Nifty of National Stocks exchange was trading at 5280, down by over 40 points.
