An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) is meeting in New Delhi later in the day to discuss the fuel price issue. This is the second meeting of the group after the Kirith Parikh Committee submitted its report recommending freeing the petro prices from the administered price mechanism. Earlier this month no decision could be taken on the issue as it lacked the Quorum. The Finance Minister had said that due to absence of two members Sharad Pawar who was indisposed and the Railway minister Mamta Banerjee could not make it to the meeting .
