Oil prices were down in Asian trade after an overnight surge. New York's light sweet crude was down 14 cents at 79.16 dolars a barrel while London's Brent North Sea crude dropped 21 cents to 77.61 dollars.

Snapping a five-day losing streak, gold rose 125 , to 18,600 per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today. Silver ready gained 80 rupees, to 28,980 rupees per kilo.In the global markets, gold climbed 8.10 dollars, to 1192.20 dollars an ounce.
