Oil prices rose today as heightened tensions in Egypt sparked crude supply concerns. New York's light sweet crude soared 83 cents to 87.56 dollars per barrel. Brent NorthSea crude gained 69 cents to 101.56 dollars per barrel.

The Indian rupee depreciated by 2 paise to 45.74 rupees against the US dollar in early trade today. It closes at 45.72 rupees against the US currency in the previous session.Dealers said the rupee lost ground due to dollar gains against other Asian currencies.
