The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex that rose 134 points in opening deals fell 65 points to trade at 16643 in noon trade. In a similar fashion, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index lost 13 points to 4998.

The Indian rupee fell by 14 paise to Rs 47.78 per US dollar in early trade today, extending its losses for the ninth straight session. The rupee had ended 5 paise lower at Rs 47. 65 against the American currency in the previous session.
