In badminton, Subhankar Dey, Ruthvika Shivani Gadde and former national champion Rituparna Das advanced to the second round of respective singles in the opening round of  Singapore Open today. India's best mixed doubles pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy also entered the second round. However, defending men's singles champion B Sai Praneeth crashed out of the tournament after  opening round defeat. 

It was also curtains for former Commonwealth Games bronze medallist RMV Gurusai dutt and young Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka.Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy also bowed out .Mandiraju Anilkumar Raju and Venkat Gaurav Prasad too failed to cross the opening hurdle.
