The domestic benchmark equity indices fell 1 percent in the holiday truncated week amid mixed earnings from India Inc, possible delay in the US Fed rate cut and Middle East tension.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 723 points during the week, to close at 70,701 on Thursday. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange fell 219 points during the week to finish at 21,353. In the broader market, the BSE Mid-cap Index slumped 1.6 percent and the small-cap index shed 0.5 percent.
