Food inflation eases

Food inflation eased by nearly a percentage point, to 17.28 per cent for the week ended January 2. Food inflation had stood at 18.22 per cent in the previous week. However, the wholesale-price-index inflation rate jumped to 7.31 per cent for December 2009, from 4.78 per cent in the previous month.
