Rupee depreciates by 11 paise

The rupee today weakened by 11 paise to Rs 46.75 a dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in early trade due to increased dollar demand from importers. The rupee had ended higher by 3 paise at 46.64 a dollar in the previous session.

Oil down in Asian trade

Crude prices were down in Asia today. New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in October, fell 35 cents to USD 72.75 a barrel. London's Brent North Sea crude for October slipped 30 cents to USD 73.32.

Sensex ends at marginal gain of 8 pts

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended with a marginal gain of 8 points, to 18,409, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 13 points, or 0.2 percent, to 5,545. In the broader market, the BSE Midcap index rose 0.8 percent and the Smallcap index added 0.9 percent.
