Rupee down by 1 paise against US dollar

The rupee weakened by 1 paise to 44.54 rupees against the US currency in the early trade, weighed down by the month-end dollar demand. Forex traders said, besides dollar demand from importers, capital outflows by foreign funds from equities also put pressure on the rupee.
