South African President Jacob Zuma has invited Congres President Sonia Gandhi to visit his country to watch the Football World Cup that kicks off in Johannesburg on June 11. This was conveyed to Mrs. Gandhi who made a courtesy call on Mr. Zuma. The South African leader is on a three-day official visit to India. Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, who was present during the meeting, told PTI that Mr. Zuma has invited Mrs. Gandhi to watch the FIFA World Cup. Mrs.Gandhi conveyed her best wishes for smooth conduct of the mega football event. Mr. Sharma said the South African President has also invited Mrs. Gandhi for a visit in 2012 when his African National Congress completes 100 years.
