Zimbabwe's former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be sworn in as the President of the country today. Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda said that the ruling ZANU-PF party has nominated the 75-year old leader to fill the vacancy left by Mr Robert Mugabe.<br/><br/>The new leader will take oath at a 60,000-seat stadium in capital Harare. A spokesman for the ruling party said he would serve the remainder of Mr Mugabe's term until elections that are due to be held by September 2018.<br/><br/>Mr Mugabe stepped down as the President on Tuesday after 37-years rule. Meanwhile, ZANU-PF chief whip Lovemore Matuke has said that Mr Megabe will not be prosecuted. He told a news agency that prosecution of 93-year old leader was never part of the plan. He said the former President is safe, his family is safe and his status as a hero of his country is assured.
