Zero tolerance for abusive conduct: Games Federation

The Commonwealth Games Federation said it will not tolerate abusive and defamatory behavior of participating athletes and officials during the events. President of the body Michael Fennel said it while addressing a joint press conference this morning with the officials of the Organising Committee. In the reference of reports about incident of abusive language used by English team official against Indian archery coach. He said Federation has sought detail reports about such incidents and proper actions will be taken after investigations. He appreciated the promptness of Indian Government for providing permission for helicopter TV coverage of road events. Mr. Fennel said that one thousand five hundred dope test will be conducted during the games and of them Five hundred test have been completed day before yesterday and all were negative. Responding to a question the Oraganising Committee Secretary General Lalit Bhanot said the committee has decided to make available more than one lakh fresh tickets for open sale. He claimed that good numbers of spectators are turning up for popular events like swimming, Badminton, Tennis, wrestling and weightlifting. He said more one million tickets have been already sold out and 54 thousand tickets were sold out on Friday. He said it seems that tickets made available to the sponsors are not turning up. He said 10 percent tickets of total numbers have been given to sponsors.
