Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has been declared a proclaimed offender and the process to attach his assets has been initiated. <br/><br/>National Investigation Agency (NIA) said in New Delhi that the order declaring Naik a proclaimed offender was issued recently by a special court in Mumbai, after which the process of attachment of his assets was initiated.<br/><br/>Naik is being probed under terror and money-laundering charges by NIA. The agency had, in November last year, registered a criminal case against the controversial preacher at its Mumbai branch under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.<br/><br/>Naik fled from India in July last year after terrorists in Bangladesh claimed that they were inspired by his speeches.
