Minister of state for Science and Technology Y. S. Chowdary today stressed the need for bringing in Water Security Act on the lines of Food Security Act to benefit farmers across the country. <br/><br/>He was addressing the Rural Innovators and Startup Conclave 2017 at the National Institute of rural Development and Panchayat Raj in Hyderabad. He said the Government has been taking several measures to double the income of framers. <br/><br/>He said workable, sustainable, business models must be evolved for innovative ideas to actually work improving the lives of rural people. Stating that the basic facilities of the urban areas must be extended to rural areas, he said there is a need for deploying Agriculture Volunteers to help farmers in matters like crop insurance and personal insurance. <br/><br/>About 140 innovators and Startups have displayed their products and Ideas at the two-day conclave. The NIRD-PR will be selecting best products and ideas in six categories including Agriculture, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Housing and Livelihoods.
