Talking to media persons at Thoothukudi today, he said that the youth should remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. <br/><br/>The country was suffering from corruption, violence against women for more than 60 years and the BJP led central government is coordinating with people for nation's growth. <br/><br/>The Minister emphasized that if India has to shine in sports at international level, then sports should be given equal importance along with education at school level. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, it is time for remembering sacrifices of freedom fighters Yaad Karo Qurbaani, with Ministers paying tributes at birth places of leaders who fought for Independence.<br/><br/>Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu paid tributes to freedom fighters Veera Pandya Kattabomman at Panchalan Kurichi Fort, V O Chidambaranar at Ottapidaram and Subhramanya Bharatiar at Ettayapuram on Saturday. <br/><br/>It was a tryst with history for the Union Minister as he garlanded the statue of Veera Pandya Kattabomman who fought against British East Indian Company at the Panchalan Kurichi Fort in Thoothukudi. <br/><br/>The Minister then proceeded to Ottapidaram where he paid tributes to VO Chidambaranar called as Kappalottiya Thamizhan for starting Indian Shipping Company to fight against British monopoly in shipping service. <br/><br/>Finally Shri Venkaiah Naidu paid tributes to patriotic poet Subrahmanya Bharatiyar at Ettayapuram. <br/>School children dressed up as Bharatiyar relived the fiery poet's urge for freedom. Union Minister of state for Road Transport Highways and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan, BJP state chief Dr Thamisiai Soundarajan accompanied the union Minister.
