Vice President Hamid Ansari has said that the youth of the country is an important national resource and their skills must be channelised and harnessed for the nation’s progress.
Mr Ansari was addressing a gathering after presenting the Uprashtrapati Awards to Rover Scouts and Ranger Guides in New Delhi.
The Vice-President said that Scout and Guide Movement has played an important role globally and in India it has helped in the training of youth, building their character and social outlook.
He added that as the youth navigates the turbulent transition from adolescence to responsible adulthood, Rovering infuses their journey with the principles of service to God, country and fellow citizens.
It gives an opportunity to serve one’s community, expand one's range of skills, and enjoy fellowship, social, outdoor and cultural activities.
