In Assam, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal said that youth of our country is a source of all kind of energy because youth power is a supreme power. He was speaking in an inaugural ceremony of youth conclave in Silchar. The youth conclave titled 'Skilled Youth, Empowered Assam' was organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK).<br/><br/>As many as 1500 college students and youths from Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Dima Hasao districts of Assam were took part in the conclave which was the first of the six conclaves to be held in Nagaon, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Bongaigaon and Guwahati in the near future. The aim of the conclaves is to make the youth aware about the developmental changes taking place in the region, state and country at large.<br/><br/>Minister further said that Assam is generally known for problems and difficulties but it's time to present a new face of Assam. Minister appealed the youth to explore their potentiality and possibilities and make a state as land of prosperities. The minister also announced various developmental steps for the Barak Valley.<br/><br/>Sarbananda Sonowal also performed bhoomi pujan for two laning of Silchar-Badarpur road. Former central minister Kabindra Purkayastha, renowned educationist Shankar Bhattacharya, NIT Silchar director Prof N V Deshpande, local MLA Dilip Paul and Dinesh Pratap Singh, member, board of governor, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangthan were also spoke on the occasion.
