In Chandigarh activists of Youth Congress got injured on Thursday when police resorted to lathicharge as they were proceeding towards the Punjab assembly to gherao it in protest against the alleged anti-people policies of Punjab government. Police resorted to lathicharge and used tear gas when their attempts to stop the hundreds of Youth Congress workers in Sector 42 of Chandigarh were resisted. Some Youth Congress workers allegedly pelted the police with stones.Punjab Youth Congress president Ravneet Singh Bittu, MP, who was leading the march said dozen of Youth Congress workers were injured in the lathicharge. He alleged that the police resorted to lathicharge even as the Youth Congress workers were protesting in a peaceful manner. He denied the agitators had pelted the police with stones.
