Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Saleh who has returned to country Friday after spending three months in Saudi Arabia has called for a cease-fire and said negotiations are the only way to resolve the crisis. In the statement, his office however, suggested that he does not intend to step down immediately. He was recovering in Saudi Arabia from a June assassination attempt. Yemen is facing eight months of protests in which tens of thousands have taken to the streets to demand an end to Saleh’s 33-year rule.
