Yemen President, Ali Abdullah Saleh has said that he would resist calls to resign and abide by the constitution in any transfer of power. Yemen's opposition, has however called for mass protests following another round of deadly clashes with police. In a related development UAE Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said that Iran should reconsider its policies in the region and respect the unity, sovereignty and political will of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers have said that they will soon take the next step to end the impasse in Yemen. United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said this after a joint meeting between GCC foreign ministers and their European Union counterparts in Abu Dhabi last evening. In a statement, issued at the end of the talks, the GCC ministers expressed deep concern at the situation in Yemen saying the current impasse between the various parties might decline quickly into more serious confrontation and conflict, they called on all parties in Yemen to urgently forge a meaningful, comprehensive and inclusive agreement on political transition.
