Yeddyurappa resigns, BJP to elect new leader on Aug 3

The new leader of BJP legislature Party in Karnataka will be elected on Wednesday. This was stated by the Party in- charge of Karnataka Affairs, Dharmendra Pradhan yesterday. Talking to newsperson, he said two senior party leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh, who were in Bengaluru to oversee the transition of leadership, would apprise party central leaders about the development in Karnataka. Earlier, B S Yeddyurappa stepped down as the state Chief Minister after a tenure of near 30 months. He had proposed the name of D V Sadananda Gowda as Chief Ministerial candidate. After submitting his resignation to the Governor, Yeddyurappa told reporters that Lok Sabha member Sadanand Gowda is his choice of successor. BJP sources however said, that within the party there is no consensus on making Sadanand Gowda as the next Chief Minister.
