Yeddyurappa receives anticipatory bail in land de-notification case

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yeddyurappa received anticipatory bail from Karnataka High Court in the last and remaining complaint filed by Sirajin Basha in the land de-notification case. Justice H Bilappa pronounced this verdict on Monday after noting that anticipatory bail is granted as there is no need for judicial investigation and documents pertaining to the case are already submitted to the Lokayuktha court.

He however imposed conditions that the accused should not tamper with evidence or influence the witnesses and asked the accused to furnish a surety of two lakh rupees each. The High Court has already granted regular bail to Yeddyurappa in two of the cases. He has also got anticipatory bail in another two of the five complaints filed by Sirajin Basha.

In another development, Karnataka High Court also rejected the petition filed by Sirajin Basha seeking cancellation of bail given to Yeddyurappa’s sons and son-in-law in two of the land de-notification cases. Justice B V Pinto rejected the application today by refusing to go against the Lokayuktha Court's judgement in this case.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Sirajin Basha has appealed before Supreme Court against granting of bail to Yeddyurappa and the case is listed for hearing on December 5.
