Yeddyurappa moves CBI court for anticipatory bail in illegal mining case

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa and some of his family members on Wednesday moved the CBI court for anticipatory bail apprehending arrest after CBI raids on their residences in connection with illegal mining case. Besides Yeddyurappa, his two sons B Y Raghavendra and B Y Vijendra and his son-in-law Sohan Kumar filed the applications.

The court has directed the CBI to file their objections by Thursday, when the matter will come up for hearing. Since Wednesday morning the CBI raided at eight premises belonging to Yeddyurappa and his family members and two mining firms in Bangalore, Bellary and Shimoga. The Central Investigation agency has registered a case

against Yeddyurappa and others under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Karnataka Land (Restriction on Transfer) Act following the directions of Supreme Court of India on May 11. The CBI sources have said that various incriminating documents have been found during the searches and further investigation is continuing.
