Yeddyurappa launches new Karnataka Janatha Party in Haveri

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa, who quit BJP last month, is launching Karnataka Janatha Party today. A public rally in Haveri, in central Karnataka is organised where Mr. Yeddyurappa will take over as President of the regional party floated by him.

Claiming the support of over 30 MLAs from BJP, Mr. Yeddyurappa told media persons today that BJP Government survives in the state on his support. He cautioned BJP not to take action against his loyalists, who are in the government.

Meanwhile speaking in Hubli today, Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter reiterated that disciplinary action will be taken against ministers and MLAs who attend the convention organised by Yeddyurappa. He claimed that his Government still enjoys the majority and will continue in power till he has the mandate.

A core committee of BJP sacked Cooperative minister B J Puttaswamy and Tumkur Member of Parliament Basavaraju on Saturday as a disciplinary measure.
