Former Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa, was granted bail by the Special CBI Court in Bangalore today, in connection with the case relating to alleged kickbacks received from a mining company. Justice MS Biradar of CBI court granted him bail.
The CBI had chargesheeted Yeddyurappa, his family members, the mining firm JSW Steel for criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and corruption in payment of 40 crore rupees as bribe to Yeddyurappa’s family and a trust run by the family for showing official favours granted in 2010.
CBI chargesheet, also charges that Yeddyurappa’s sons and son-in-law purchased land for 40 lakh rupees in Rachenahalli in violation of the land reforms Act.
The same land was denotified by Yeddyurappa when he was Chief Minister and sold to the mining firm at an exorbitant price of 20 crore rupees, while the guidance value was just 1.5 crore rupees.
