Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today called on Governor H R Bhardwaj. Mr. Yeddyurappa, accompanied by state Home Minister Dr V S Acharya and Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs S Suresh Kumar, held discussions with the governor for about 40 minutes at the Raj Bhavan.<br/><br/>Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the chief minister Yeddyurappa said that he explained to the governor the prevailing developments and the steps taken to strengthen the institution of Lokayukta. The Governor was also informed that the illegal mining is under Lokayukta probe.<br/><br/>Sticking to his government stand of not referring the illegal mining issue to CBI investigation, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he had told the Governor that now it is not proper to entrust the matter to CBI probe as it now, it would further delay the enquiry process. Mr. Yadeurappa quoted the Governor as saying that Karnataka is one of the best administered states and the law and order situation is good compared to entire country. He said during the course of his discussion, he also informed the Governor on the conduct of opposition parties which have been disrupting the proceedings in both houses of legislatures over the mining issue.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Finance bill of 62,000 crore rupees was passed in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly by voice vote even when the Opposition continued its dharna on the sixth day today. Once the Finance Bill was approved the Speaker adjourned the House till afternoon. Continuing the dharna on the floor of the House, the entire Opposition persisted with their demand for a CBI enquiry against illegal mining. They also sought action against the mine owners and Ministers Janardhan Reddy, Karunakar Reddy and Sriramulu.
