CPIM General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri met Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and is learnt to have discussed the possibility of fielding a common opposition candidate for the presidential poll. <br/><br/>PTI quoting sources said, CPIM has also held informal discussions on the issue with NCP leader Sharad Pawar and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad. <br/><br/>Bihar Chief Minister and JDU chief, Nitish Kumar also met Congress President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi yesterday. He called for a joint opposition candidate for the election to the President's post. <br/><br/>Party spokesperson K C Tyagi said, Nitish Kumar has also taken up the matter with leaders of the Left parties. <br/><br/>President Pranab Mukherjee's term ends in July this year.
