With rains continuously lashing Delhi and its adjoining areas, the water level in river Yamuna has crossed the danger level. The river is flowing 11 cm above the danger mark of 204.83 metres. Chief Enginer of Flood Control Department V P S Tomar said the level had increased due to water being released from Haryana. People living in low lying areas along the bank have been evacuated. The capital has been experiencing incessant rains in the past three days with 24.9 mm of rainfall being recorded in the last 24 hours. According to the MET department Delhi has received more than 600 mm of rainfall this season which almost 20 percent above normal. Meanwhile, In Punjab, 51 thousand 500 cuces of water was released today from Gobind Sagar reservoir of Bhakhra Dam in Satluj river to maintain the water level in the lake. Water level in the reservoir has crossed 1670 feet. Bhakhra Beas Management Board authorities say that now water will be maintained in the reservoir to save the time and to avoid flood in the region. Daily inflow of water in the dam is more than the outflow. The height of dam is 1690 feet while water can be filled up to 1680 feet.
