With rain continuously lashing Delhi and its adjoining areas, the water level in river Yamuna has crossed the danger level. The river is flowing 17 cm above the danger mark of 204.83 metres. People living in low lying areas along the bank have been evacuated as the water level is expected to rise further. Chief Engineer of Flood Control Department, V P S Tomar told AIR News that the level has increased due to Heavy rainfall in the upper catchment area of river Yamuna.The capital has been experiencing incessant rains in the past three days with 24.9 mm of rainfall being recorded in the last 24 hours. According to the MET department Delhi has received more than 600 mm of rainfall this season which almost 20 per cent above normal.
