Wyclef Jean files as Haiti presidential candidate

The Haitian-born singer and song writer, Wyclef Jean has registered as a candidate for the Presidency of Haiti. He filed the necessary papers at an electoral office in the capital Port au Prince. Wyclef Jean who was born in Haiti but grew up in New York, has long taken interest in his homeland. He set up a charity for Haitian children and worked to secure aid for the country after it was hit by a devastating earthquake in January. The three-time Gramy winner is very popular among the Haitian youths, but his eligibility for presidential election under Haitian law is still to be adjudged.
