India's ace tennis star Sania Mirza advanced to the doubles semifinals along with her Russian partner Elena Vesnina in the 721,000 U.S. dollar WTA Family Circle Cup tennis tournament at Charleston. In the doubles quarter-finals, the unseeded pair came from behind to beat Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia and Anastasia Rodionova of Australia in three sets 3-6 6-2 10-8. In the semifinals, the Indo-Russian pair will take on Ji Zheng and Shuai. In the singles event, Sania has bowed out to 11th seed Peng Shuai of China with a 6-2, 2-6 2-6 quarter-final defeat.
