Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Wednesday said that an error made in announcing a code was the cause of delay for the passage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's plane over Iran's airspace.According to Iranian Press TV, Salehi said that the pilot, who flew the new Airbus A340-300 of the German government, has apparently entered an incorrect call signal code while communicating with Iranian air traffic controllers. He pointed out that as soon as the technical problem was removed, the plane continued its path and flew over Iran. The Iranian Ambassador to Berlin, Alireza Sheikh-Attar has meanwhile dismissed reports that political intentions had triggered the issue. Iranian clarification came after Germany said that Chancellor Merkel's plane was forced to circle over Turkey for about two hours en route to India after Iran closed its airspace to the aircraft.
