WPI Inflation drops to zero per cent in November

Due to the sharp decline in food articles and fuel prices the Wholesale price index -based, WPI inflation in November has plunged to zero percent form 1.77 percent in October last month. This is the lowest WPI inflation rate form the last five and half years. The WPI inflation in November 2013 stood at 7.5 percent. According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce today that the prices of food articles have declined by 0.4 percent while non-food articles came down by 0.7 percent. The prices in fuel and power contracted by 4.19 percent as against 0.43 percent inflation in October. Manufactured products, which have the single largest weightage in the index at 64.97 percent fell to 2.04 percent in November as against 2.43 percent in the previous month. The sharp drop in WPI inflation, which fell for the sixth month in a row, came at the back of retail inflation declining to a record low of 4.38 percent in November
