Due to increase in prices of food items the Wholesale Price Index, WPI based inflation has marginally increased to 0.11 percent in December from 0.0 percent in November 2014.The WPI inflation stood at 6.40 percent during the corresponding month of the previous year.According to the data released by Commerce and Industry Ministry the food inflation in December moved to a five month high of 5.2 per cent as compare to 0.63 percent in November. The data further showed that the contraction in WPI inflation for petrol was steeper at 11.96 per cent from 9.96 per cent in November. Similarly the rate of decline in diesel prices during December was higher than in the previous month.The primary articles inflation rose to 2.17 percent against 0.98 percent in November. The fuel and power inflation also plunged to 7.82 percent compare to 4.91 in November. The data also revealed that the Manufactured products inflation stood at 1.57 percent versus 2.04 percent in November last year.
