The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at 2(point)84% for the month of January 2018 as compared to 3.58% for the previous month and 4.26% during the corresponding month of the previous year. Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 2.30% compared to a build-up rate of 4.55% in the corresponding period of the previous year. The official Wholesale Price Index for All Commodities for the month of January 2018 rose by 0.1 percent to 115.8 from 115.7 for the previous month.The index for Food Articles declined by 2.4 percent to 140.6 from 144.1 for the previous month index for Crude Petroleum & Natural Gas rose by 0.3 percent to 78.3 from 78.1 the previous month due to the higher price of crude petroleum 1%.
