Washington has said that it is looking forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation in the Global Nuclear Security Summit beginning from tomorrow. <br/><br/>Laura Holgate, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism and Threat Reduction, National Security Council said that the summit provides an opportunity to highlight the steps being taken by India in the realm of nuclear security. <br/><br/>Talking to news persons in Washington, she said the United States intends to see a deeper bilateral cooperation with India going forward out of the summit.<br/><br/>Ms Holgate also said that the summit will also discuss about terrorism and the steps to be taken to avert nuclear strikes by terrorist groups. A total of 53 countries and five international organizations including the United Nations Organization, International Atomic Energy Ageny -IAEA will take part in the two-day summit that was initiated by President Barak Obama in 2009. <br/><br/>The last three summits were held in Washington, Seoul and The Hague in the Netherlands in 2010, 2012 and 2014 respectively. The fourth summit which is expected to be the last summit under the current format and also under the presidency of Obama is expected to take stock of the measures being taken by all countries to safeguard nuclear materials and facilities and also prevent non-state actors gaining access to them.
