The Finance Minister of Punjab, Mr Manpreet Singh Badal has said that with the significant increase in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Punjab, the worst period of the State economy is over. The economy is likely to grow now.<br/><br/>Giving credit to domestic market and the agriculture for the increase in GSDP, Mr. Badal said that despite global slowdown which has affected every country and almost every state but has remained ineffective for Punjab.<br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in Jalandhar, today, after a meeting with Indian Medical Association, Jalandhar Chapter, he said in the growing economy of Punjab, Agriculture has contributed 30 per cent whereas overall it has contributed 19 per cent at the National level.<br/><br/>He said that in the 11th Five Year Plan, Centre had kept a growth target of 5.9 per cent for Punjab whereas Punjab has achieved 6.6 per cent in the last three years.<br/><br/>The Finance Minister said that in the recently held meeting with the Planning Commission for discussing the plan outlay for Punjab, Centre is likely to allocate Rs. 11000 crore more to the state this time.<br/>
