World's longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas arrives in Guwahati

<span style="color: #222222;">The world's longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas  on Monday afternoon arrived in Guwahati and anchored at Pandu Port with 26 Swiss and 2 German tourists. Kamrup district  adminstration welcomed the tourists and local artists performed folk dances.<br />''<br />''Earlier in the day, the tourists visited Sualkuchi in Kamrup district to get first hand experience on production of Assam silk-Muga, Eri and Pat. The Swiss and German tourists visited a government run Muga, Eri and Pat silk production cum exhibition centre and a Self Help Group for a live demonstration of silk production. Sualkuchi- a silk town in Kamrup district known as 'Manchester of East', is 35 km from Guwahati. The weavers showcased the brilliance of Assam's handloom industry to the visiting tourists who enjoyed the sheer genius of the artisans.  <br />''<br />''On Tuesday morning, the tourists of MV Ganga Vilas will be visiting Kamakhaya temple and Assam State Museum in Guwahati before they leave for their onward journey to Mayong in Morigaon district and further.<br />''<br />''MV Ganga Vilas is scheduled to travel 13 days in Assam and will also helt at Kaziranga and Majuli before the culmination of the journey at Dibrugarh on 1st March.<br />''<br />''Prime Minister Narendra Modi had virtually flagged off the cruise on 13th January 2023 from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The cruise has already traversed through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Bangladesh.</span><br />
