World Youth Chess Championship: Murali wins Gold in Under-12 category

Tamil Nadu youngster Karthikeyan Murali won the Gold medal in the Under-12 Open Category of the World Youth Chess Championship in Caldas Novas, Brazil. India won a total number of five medals in the championship which include one Gold, one Silver and three bronze. In the final round, Karthikeyan signed the peace treaty with Ravi Haria of England and tied for the top spot along with Gledura Benjamin of Hungary. But better tie break score helped Karthikeyan to secure the gold medal. The other medal winners for India are Tamil Nadu lad Ram Arvind, who won the silver in Under-8 category while Debashis Das, Rathanvel and Salonika Saina added bronze to the Indian medal tally in Under-18 Open, Under-10 Open and Under-8 Girls categories respectively.
