In the World T-20, West Indies defeated South Africa by 3 wickets to reach the semifinals from Group-1. In a crucial fixture played at Nagpur last night, the Caribbean nation chased down the target of 123 with two balls to spare. The chase went down till the last over though a moderate total was at hand. With this loss South Africa is virtually out of the World Cup. Marlon Samuels was the top scorer for the West Indies as he managed 43 runs while Opener Johnson Charles put up 32 runs. Imran Tahir was the most economical bowler for South Africa as he gave away 13 in 4 overs and took two wickets. Earlier, the Proteas, who were put in to bat first, managed to put up 122 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs after the initial struggle.Meanwhile in another encounter yesterday, Australia thrashed Pakistan by 21 runs in Group-2 encounter at Mohali to send them out of the tournament and keep their semifinals hope alive.Today, England will take on Sri Lanka from Group-1 at Delhi while Bangladesh will face New Zealand at Kolkata in Group-2 encounter.
