World Squash Championship begins at Chennai

In the World Squash Federation Championship match on Tuesday, Japan beat South Africa, World champions Egypt beat Australia and Malaysia beat Colombia.

In another match of Pool A in the evening. Malaysia beat Colombia 3-0.

Malaysia's Ong Sai Sung beat Colombia's Alfonso Marroquin 7-2,7-3,7-4.

Aira Azman who played against Laura Tovar of Colombia scored 5-7,7-0,3-7,7-1. Darren Pragasam of Malaysia won against Colombian Juan Felipe Tovar Perez in a  7-2,7-2,7-2 game.

India is playing against Hong Kong. India won the first round by defeating Hong Kong 3-0 in Chennai. India's Abhay Singh beat Hong Kong's Chung Yat Long 7-2,7-3,7-6. Joshna Chinappa beat Heylie Fung 7-,7-5,7-5 and Saurav Ghosal beat To You Ling 5-7,7-2,7-5,7-1 just a short while ago.

Earlier in the afternoon, World Champion's Egypt beat Australia and took the score of 4-nil. Australian player Jessica Turnbull said that the Egyptian team posed a tough challenge.

Egypt's Karim el Hammamy beat Australia's Nicholas Calvert 5-7,7-3,7,0-7-3, Fayrouz Abo Uelkheir Abouelkheir beat Jessica Turnbull,5-7,7-4,7-4,7-4 Aly Abou El Einen beat Australia's Joseph white 7-1,7-6,7-2, Egypt's Kenzy Ayman beat Alex Haydon 7-5,7-3,7-4. Egypt Coach Mohammed said that the team was keen to retain the world cup championship title.

Shamal Mehta, sports enthusiast from Bangalore, an on looker said that it was great to see the world cup being played in the Mall.

In the first game, Japan beat South Africa and took the score of 3-1. Japan's Tomotaka Endo beat South Africa's Jean Pierre Brits 7-4,1-7.2-7,7-3,7-5, Japan's Satomi Watanabe beat South Africa's Lizelle Muller 7-2,7-1,7-2 Japan's Ryunosuke Tesukue beat South Africa's Dewald Van Niekerk 4-7.7-5.7-5.7-3 Japan's Akari Midorikawa lost to South Africa's Hayley Ward 7-5,5-7,1-7,2-7in the first game.
