World Soil Day is being observed today. In Udahagamandalam in Tamil Nadu the day is being observed by the Horticultural department in four centres. More than hundred farmers took part in these camps were all the basic information about land and soil are being collected and collated.<br/><br/>Elsewhere in Tamil Nadu preparatory work on collecting and collating information about soil and land resources is also proceeding at full speed in paces as far off as Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Vellore and Namakkal.<br/><br/>Highly placed sources in Horticulture department of the Tamil Nadu state government told AIR Tiruchirapalli that the soil health card is envisaged to be a basic document that will provide accurate information on the status of the health of soil in individual farmsteads through out the length and breadth of the country.
