World Sight Day being observed today

World sight day is being observed today. The day is observed to focus attention on blindness and vision impairment. Government has set up free eye check up and treatments facilities in the designated primary health centres, community health centres, medical colleges, regional institutes of opthalmology and selected NGOs all over the country.<br/><br/>Prevention of vision loss due to sight threatening conditions like cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma is possible with regular eye check up. Persons over 40 years of age or having glaucoma, diabetes or family history of eye diseases should get their eyes checked at least once a year.
