World Record in tree plantation in Leh in record time

At Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, a new Guinness Book of World Record has been made with the plantation of fifty thousand and thirty three willow trees by nine thousand people in thirty three minutes and twenty five seconds in a special plantation drive in conjunction with common wealth games. The plantation drive was held at Changga village, near World Famous Hemis Monastery, 45 km from Leh. The earlier record in tree plantation was held by Peru for forty thousand trees by eight thousand people.AIR correspondent Yangchan Dolma reports from Leh that the mass plantation has been organised by Live to Love under its green initiative campaign in Indian Himalayas. It is also to mitigate global warming and to avoid natural disaster like the recent cloud burst and flash flood experienced by the people of Ladakh which claimed over two hundred human lives and left thousands of people homeless beside heavy damage of property. This world record breaking event was witnessed by more ten thousand people who have came from different parts of Ladakh. Under the green initiative campaign in Himalayas one million sixteen thousand willow trees will be planted in Ladakh by the Live to Love in near future.
