Today is World Press Freedom Day. This day is celebrated across the globe on May 3rd to commemorate the fundamental principles of press freedom and to pay solemn tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The theme of this year's World Press Day being organized by UNESCO is "Freedom of Information: The Right to Know". A number of functions are being organized across the country to celebrate the day. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry is holding an open session this afternoon to mark the day.
