World Post Day is being celebrated today. This day is observed each year on the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union, UPU in 1874 in the Swiss Capital, Bern. <br/><br/>It was declared World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969. The theme for this year is Innovation, Integration and Inclusion. <br/><br/>India Post has come a long way from delivering letters to ensuring country's socio-economic development. For more than 150 years, the Department of Posts has been the backbone of the country's communication network. It is the largest postal network in the world providing mail parcel, money transfer, banking, insurance and retail services.
