World No Tobacco Day on May 31

World No Tobacco Day is being observed tomorrow.This year the focus willl be on Gender and Tobacco with a special emphasis on marketing to women.The aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle and advocate abstinence from the use of nicotine. Recognising widespread consumption of nictotine has a cause for alarm,the Ministry of Health and Family welfare in collaboration with several organisations is organising an awareness drive.The endeavour is to dicourage consumption of nicotine especially marketing of the hazardous substance to women. On World No Tobacco Day the WHO will encourage governements to curb the increasing prevalence of nicotine addiction so as to reduce the toll of crippling disease induced by tobacco consumption which have become increasingly widespread among women.
