<span style="color: #222222;">Today is World Nature Conservation Day. The day is being observed with the express aim of focusing attention on the urgent need to preserve natural resources and to ensure increasing importance given to sustainable development schemes.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Various conservation activities are being started in Tamilnadu as part of World Nature Conservation Day. On line competitions intended to raise awareness about natural resources are being held today in the Cauvery Delta Region.&nbsp; In addition to this, a major awareness campaign is also being held among the farming community to promote the increased use of organic fertilisers.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">This is being done by Farmers Produce Centres under the direction of various ICAR research institutions in the state like the Banana Research Institute, Trichy. With the growth in numbers of kitchen gardens and roof top gardening in the state, the Horticulture department is also spearheading a campaign to increase awareness of nature friendly agricultural practices.&nbsp;</span>&nbsp;<br />
